We did not just design headwear. We sourced the technology, designed the electronics, built the production line, and manufactured every unit ourselves in Santa Monica.

Light, Embedded. Invisible Until It Is Not.

The premise was simple and completely unrealized in the market: embed programmable light-projection technology into the front panel of a hat without adding meaningful weight, bulk, or rigidity. When off, the hat looks entirely conventional. When activated, it distributes animated light across the front panel graphic through multiple color modes, animation sequences, and lighting states — all controlled through a discrete button system.

The light technology is embedded within a deca on the front panel, using a proprietary light-projection panel system to distribute illumination evenly across the graphic surface. The result is a garment-grade wearable that outperforms every competing smart hat product on the market in terms of comfort, weight, and visual quality.

Built From the Component Up

Lumativ was not sourced from a finished product supplier. The entire technology stack was built from scratch — starting with the identification of a Chinese technology partner that had developed ultra-thin, high-quality light-projection panels unavailable on the open market. Ateliersavant secured the partnership, then designed the surrounding electronics infrastructure specifically for the hat form factor.

Deca front panel system

Light panels embedded within the front panel deca, distributing illumination evenly across the graphic with multiple modes and animation sequences controlled by a discrete button.

Hand-Built in Santa Monica

As the relationship with the technology supplier deepened, Lumativ established its own production infrastructure inside its Santa Monica offices — warehouse, studio, and production line operating as a single integrated facility. Every Lumativ hat was hand-manufactured on-site, with direct quality control over light panel assembly, PCB integration, magnetic charging components, and final finishing.

Manufacturing in-house was a quality decision and a brand decision simultaneously. Lumativ was not a licensed product assembled in an anonymous factory. It was hand-crafted wearable technology, built by the team that designed it, in the city where it was conceived.
